SUMMER WALKING

May-Oct 2008

Northwest Scotland has some of the finest wild mountain landscapes and adventurous walking in the British Isles. Ranging from dramatic coastal scenery through remote glens and corries to spectacular high mountain ridges and summits. The walking is varied and interesting with a photo opportunity around every corner.

The entire West Coast area has an interesting human and geological history as well as varied local wildlife including red deer, otters, ptarmigan and golden eagles. The wild moorland and mountain flora is most noticeable in early summer when many of the plants and wide range of orchids come into bloom.

We aim to keep the walking flexible to suit whoever we have on the trip. The choice of locations is endless but excursions could include classic ridges in Kintail, forays into the dramatic Cuillin hills, the remote and wild coastlines of Skye and the mainland, or up to the majestic Torridon hills.

KINTAIL

Spectacular ridge walking country with lots to offer the avid hillgoer. Walk along the airy ridges of the Five Sisters of Kintail and the South Cluanie Ridge, or scramble up the imposing Forcan Ridge on The Saddle.

KNOYDART

Explore the rough bounds of Knoydart and climb it's secluded munros. Weather permitting we can get in by boat to camp or stay in a bothy and enjoy a fine driftwood fire in the evening.

TORRIDON

THE OLD MAN OF STORR

With only gentle walking, the dramatic scenery unfolds as you gain height up to the Old Man himself. After exploring the surreal rocks and pinnacles, we can walk up to the hill summit of the Storr where the 360 degree views are astounding! All the Western Isles can be seen and the mainland peaks from Suiliven down to Glen Coe are laid out before you... thats on a good day!
